Last weekend, the public were invited to the opening of the 41st Rio Tinto Martin Hanson Memorial Art Awards at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery and Museum. The exhibition is running until 8th December.

Attending the awards ceremony, it was enlightening to see the art community, their family, friends, council, business people and the general public encouraging the artists. The staff and volunteers at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery and Museum put a lot of hard work into setting up these kinds of exhibitions. It took them many hours and patience to display the art works in the exhibit to ensure that each piece compliments the space.

The exhibition showcases hundreds of pieces from local and surrounding areas and the youth of the region had various works entered this year.

There are art pieces that the entire family will enjoy.  You can also vote in The QAL People’s Choice Awards when you go to visit the exhibition up until 5th December.
