Gladstone’s much loved Festival of Summer is back and bigger than ever, expanding to run across the entire summer school holiday period from 13 December through to 26 January.
Previously held as a one week event for young people aged 11 to 17, the Festival of Summer has now grown into a six week program and is open to all school aged participants, giving families more opportunities to stay engaged, creative and active over the holidays.
Curated by Gladstone Regional Council, the festival features a wide range of workshops, experiences and interactive activities delivered at locations across the region. Events will be held at Council facilities including Gladstone Regional Libraries, Gladstone Tondoon Botanic Gardens and the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery and Museum, ensuring there is something to suit a variety of interests and age groups.
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said the expanded festival is designed to help young people beat holiday boredom while providing safe, welcoming spaces to learn and connect.
This year’s program includes a diverse mix of activities aimed at inspiring, educating and entertaining young people throughout the summer break. Many of the events are free to attend or low cost, with sessions delivered by experienced facilitators in secure and supervised environments.
While most activities are free, bookings are required for many sessions due to limited spaces.
