A key infrastructure upgrade has been completed in Gladstone’s Boyne Valley, with a new culvert now in place on Dalga Road at Builyan.
The Dalga Road Culvert Renewal Project has replaced an ageing timber culvert with a modern concrete box culvert, improving safety, durability and long term performance for the regional road network. The new structure has been designed to better withstand erosion, improve water flow and reduce future maintenance requirements.
The project forms part of Gladstone Regional Council’s 2025 26 Capital Works program and was funded through the Queensland Government’s Transport Infrastructure Development Scheme in partnership with Council.
Works on the culvert began in mid August and were completed by mid November. During construction, temporary access arrangements were put in place and nearby vegetation was removed where necessary to allow the works to proceed safely. The site has since been stabilised using erosion control measures to support the surrounding environment.
Gladstone Regional Council says the completed upgrade strengthens an important regional road asset and reflects an ongoing commitment to improving road safety and reliability across the region.
The Dalga Road upgrade is one of a number of infrastructure projects underway as part of Council’s continued investment in regional roads and transport links.
