Bible League and 5 Radio stations are embarking on a special mission to plant Prison Bibles and bring hope to at least 2,500 prisoners in Aussie jails through our on-air campaign in July.

Jesus said: “The Spirit of the Lord is on me. He has chosen me to tell good news to the poor. He sent me to tell prisoners that they are free and to tell the blind that they can see again. … to free those who have been treated badly and to announce that the time has come for the Lord to show his kindness.” Luke 4:18 [ Isaiah 61:1-2; 58:6] ERV.

Bible League has specifically designed the Prison Bible with prisoners in mind. A translation team worked to make the text easy to understand. In addition, 52 lesson plans enable weekly Bible study to be conducted by small groups within the confines of any prison setting. The lessons teach about topics such as God Loves You, Following Jesus Inside of Prison, Relating to People in Authority, Controlling Anger, Preparing for Release, and so much more. It provides the inmate with other features such as a goal setting chart, Scripture references to help deal with negative emotions, and an address book for family and friends.

Prison-Bibles“Can I say how much positive feedback I have received from the guys I visit regarding the Prison Bible.  I believe many of my colleagues have also had great feedback. Thank you for your work assisting these men and women through your endeavours with this Prison Bible,” says a chaplain from one of the Aussie prisons.

Co-Author and Bible League International Global Publisher John Andersen comments, “We made The Prison Bible specifically for prisoners. It is a tool which cannot only be used by prison ministries on a global scale, but by prisoners at whatever spiritual stage they find themselves in. We believe God will raise leaders from among the imprisoned population who will use The Prison Bible to disciple many in an unprecedented way.”

In the next few months, 2,500 more Prison Bibles will be sent out,’ says Hilton Edwards, Marketing Director of Bible League. ‘This continues from the start we made last year in Australian prisons,’ he adds. In partnership with radio stations such as Gladstone’s 91.9 Fresh FM, Darwin’s 97.7, Sunshine Coast’s Rhema 106.5 FM, Newcastle’s Rhema 99.7 FMand Central Coast’s Rhema 94.9 FM, we believe we’re going to see an amazing move of God in a short space of time.’

The Prison Bible talks a prisoner’s language, helping them see that there is a Loving God Who Cares.

Our goal: 2,500 Prison Bibles in 5 days. By mid July.
